Ingredients

Oats
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder
  • 1 1/2 cups plain or vanilla yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
Topping
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Extra matcha powder optional

Method

  1. Whisk the matcha powder with 2 tablespoons of the milk until completely smooth.
  2. Add the remaining milk, yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.
  3. Stir in the rolled oats, chia seeds, and salt until fully incorporated.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. Stir well and top with fresh blueberries and a dusting of matcha before serving.

Notes

  • Always whisk the matcha into a small amount of liquid first to avoid bitter clumps.
  • Use a thick yogurt for the creamiest texture.
  • Give it a second stir before eating, since chia seeds settle overnight.
  • Add fresh toppings right before eating rather than storing them mixed in.
  • A vibrant green matcha means better flavor. Dull or brownish matcha tends to taste more bitter.
